Gas production at Draugen is declining, and a shortage of gas used for power generation is expected. The current approach is to use diesel as a substitute for fuel gas for generator turbines (GT) and produced water reinjection pumps (PWRI).
All of the turbines can run on either gas or diesel. The diesel system that powers the three GTs and the two PRWIs was originally designed as a backup and emergency system and is not suitable for continuous operation.
