Norske Shell – Draugen platform
Location: DraugenPeriod: 2014 – 2015Customer: Aibel, Kristiansund Application area: Level measurement The lifetime of process instrumentation is often challenged, but eventually you reach a point where spare parts are no longer available.
This was the case on the Draugen platform, which went into production in 1993.
A total of 32 tags containing several different level measurement technologies were replaced with Magnetrol displacers/standpipes and guided wave raders.
Due to the limited availability of spare parts, a fault that occurs can result in an unplanned shutdown with the consequences this would have.
