New design of safety ball check valve for Jerguson sight glasses for level measurement – now introduced in Norway by H\u00e5land Instrumentering<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n

It’s not often that there’s news in the field of “level glass” design, or see-glass as we also call it.<\/span>Jerguson, one of the world’s largest suppliers of sight glasses, introduces a new type of valve design that is integrated into the sight glasses.\nIn collaboration with H\u00e5land Instrumentering AS for the Norwegian market. <\/span><\/p>\n\n

In their own specifications, all oil companies require automatic closure of the valve in the event of a leak through the sight glass.\nThis type of valve is often described as a “safety ball check valve” and will automatically prevent and reduce a potential leak to a minimum.\nAs an example, we can refer to Statoil TR3032, but also NORSOK I-001 where this requirement is specifically described. <\/span><\/p>\n\n

The innovation presented is a much easier valve to operate.\nOperators can also visually see whether the valve is open, closed or in by-pass position.\nThe position of the valve is not possible to see with today’s traditional “safety ball check valve” design.\nThis is clearly a major improvement and will increase safety in such applications.\nIn addition, the valve position can be locked so that unauthorized persons cannot change it. <\/span><\/p>\n\n
