Statoil has chosen Spectrex CCTV

Håland Instrumentering AS has recently completed a major delivery of
Fire & Gas field equipment to the Statoil Snorre A platform.

After a careful assessment and evaluation of different CCTV solutions, Statoil has now installed the Spectrex CCTV flame detector on Snorre A.  This combined CCTV detector has a built-in color camera and a triple IR flame detector based on Spectrex’s patented IR3 design, which is a well-known and proven design, with very good experiences.
Spectrex has delivered over 15 000 triple IR flame detectors to the offshore/petrochemical market in Norway and elsewhere in the world.

This CCTV detector gives operators a unique opportunity to see with their own eyes what is happening in the module in the event of an alarm/shutdown.
This enables the operator to take the best possible measures to reduce the extent of the damage and give the best possible advice to the fire teams before they are ordered into the area.
This will reduce the damage and platform downtime to a minimum.

The detector can be set up so that it outputs a continuous video signal, or that it only outputs a video signal when the IR3 part of the detector goes into alarm.

The solution chosen by Statoil was that the CCTV detector sends out a continuous video signal that is handled by the platform’s video server.
The video server records 10 minutes of video, and in the event of an alarm, the system will record all video coming from this CCTV detector.
This makes it possible for Statoil to go back and see what happened up to 10 minutes before the detector gave the alarm.
Something that will be very valuable for an investigation committee and to make the right compensatory measures in the future.

The detectors are delivered with Exd or Exde (Exe termination part) certified aluminum enclosure or alternatively in a 316ss enclosure (as delivered to Snorre A).

If you have a specific request for an application where such a detector may be relevant, please contact the undersigned.

Sincerely
Håland Instrumentering AS
