Exploding tin for overpressure protection from CDC
Continental Disc Corporation announces:
WMP™ Welded Muffled Plug Rupture Disc Assembly
Continental Disc Corporation (CDC) is one of the world's largest manufacturers of bursting discs for overpressure protection.
These can be supplied from the smallest screwed units to large panels that protect large silos or tanks for both vacuum and pressure.
Typically, flashings are fitted between holders which can make them sensitive to the torque they can be subjected to, especially for the smaller ones that are screwed into threaded connections.
With this assembly, the rupture disc is welded together with the retainer onto a threaded nipple.
The WMP™ Rupture Disc Assembly is a single-use unit that is screwed into a pressurized system.
The disc is designed to relieve pressure in the process media in an over pressurized condition to protect equipment, personnel and the environment from catastrophic failure of pressure equipment or systems.
It is designed for applications where the release to the atmosphere upon rupture is acceptable.
The WMP™ Rupture Disc Assembly is a unit where the metal rupture disc itself is welded to a threaded nipple together with the holder.
The nipple has a hexagonal head with six holes in the side of the hexagon to distribute and disperse the venting in case of rupture of the rupture disc.
The can with retainer is fully welded to the nipple to provide a bubble-tight seal.
These bursting cans are designed to be used in threaded ports.
Benefits of the new WMP™ Rupture Disc Assembly include ease of installation, not sensitive to torque during assembly, welded to ensure bubble tightness, and that this is a disposable unit that is discarded after any rupture of the rupture disc.
The highly versatile WMP™ Rupture Disc Assembly is available with a wide range of burst pressures and temperatures, and can be used in a wide range of applications in many different industries, including:
Hydraulic applications
Actuators, Accumulators, Pumps, A/C Systems, Brake systems, High pressure washing systems
Pneumatic applications
Actuators, Accumulators, Test units, A/C Systems, Indicator panel protection, Test gas cylinder, Overfill protection

New IR Line Gas Detector
SafEye Quasar 900 is designed for use on offshore platforms, production ships and large petrochemical plants.
SafEye Quasar 900 is the latest addition to Spectrex's range of optical gas and flame detectors, and is marketed by Håland Instrumentering AS in Norway.
The IR line gas detector is designed for use on offshore platforms, production ships and larger petrochemical plants.
SafEye Quasar 900 consists of a receiver and a transmitter that emits a specially adapted IR light to the receiver, so that the detector is not sensitive to false alarms due to sunlight or fog.
sunlight or fog.
The IR line gas detector detects flammable gases in open areas, up to 200 meters with a response time of less than 3 seconds.
The SafEye Quasar 900 comes with a measuring range of 0-5 LELm and can detect gas concentrations down to 0.15 LELm.
The detector has a 4-20mA output signal with superimposed HART that connects to the control system and in addition it has a MODBUS output.
The detector also has an integrated LED for local status indication (green, yellow, red).
The detector is supplied in a robust 316L enclosure that is IP66 & IP68 with heated optics.
Using the associated bracket, the detector can be mounted either standing or hanging.
SafEye Quasar 900 is Ex certified acc.
to ATEX, IECEx and FM for America and Canada.
The detector is EExde certified with integrated Exe termination part to simplify connection and installation.
Furthermore, the detector is SIL 2 approved by TUV in Germany for use in SIL 2 loops/systems.
SafEye Quasar 900 comes with a 10-year warranty on the IR source and a 3-year warranty on the complete detector!

Latest news from Magnetrol Guided Wave Radar
Latest news from Magnetrol Guided Wave Radar
Håland Instrumentering AS, in collaboration with Magnetrol International, launches the latest version of the ECLIPSE Model 706 guided wave radar (GWR) transmitter.
The radar is today the best in its class, and can be used on various types of applications for both top level and interface level measurements.
Magnetrol ECLIPSE Model 706 is designed to achieve high accuracy, high safety combined with maximum availability.
This makes the product applicable in most critical measurements within today's process industry.
The latest generation transmitter includes the following:
Improved Signal Processing - The ECLIPSE Model 706 electronic circuitry provides a significantly more powerful output pulse, resulting in a better resolution of the echo curve itself.
The signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) is 3x better than comparable competing products.
The sum of this ensures operators a precise measurement for their application even at extremely low dielectric values, large measurement areas, foam or other demanding process variables.
Overfill-proof probes - Magnetrol is the only guided wave radar manufacturer in the market to offer a complete range of overfill-proof probes.
The ECLIPSE Model 706 probes measure real level right up to the bottom of the process flange.
This is very important in order to guarantee a reliable measurement.
Improved diagnostics - future users of the ECLIPSE Model 706 will have access to a more optimized user interface.
A dedicated LCD screen presents direct echo and trend curves.
In addition, the ECLIPSE Model 706 can be pre-calibrated before delivery so that the actual start-up of the equipment can be done in the most cost-effective way possible.
The ECLIPSE Model 706 transmitter offers a safe and cost-effective level and interface meter.
The meter is not affected by process changes such as density, dielectric value, pH, viscosity or other process variables.
The ECLIPSE Model 706 is the latest generation of GWRs from Magnetrol.
Magnetrol launched the first generation of ECLIPSE Model 705 radars back in 1999.
This was the first two-wire loop-powered radar for industrial use in level measurement.
